The lyrics to Colin Hay's "Beautiful World" -- a beautiful song -- include the line, "Now I leave the party early, at least with no regrets."

I left the party early tonight, with nary a regret. It was fun, though, and the company was grand -- a couple of old faces, a few intriguing new ones.

Speaking of old friends, I saw someone today I hadn't seen in what seems like ages. Though she's self-conscious about her teeth, two of which have tiny chips, people always tell her she has a lovely smile.

And speaking of friends, I have this one friend who's a little younger than me. I haven't figured out which of us is more mature -- we go back and forth. Today I'm pretty sure it was him.

Anyway, this afternoon I did some things for myself:

  • Went for a walk in the much-welcomed sun.
  • Followed part of a friend's advice and felt much better for having done so.
  • Spent a goodly portion of my latest freelancing paycheck on an item I've had my eye on for a while now. It's undeniably, almost unbearably awesome. I'd feel more guilty about the expense, but considering how much I've saved lately on groceries, I figure I'm OK.

People sometimes say, "One day we'll look back on this and laugh." My response: "Why wait?"

This was a good day.

OK, actually, I'm just going to embed this sombitch. It amuses me:
