Alert

Do you remember that part in City of Angels when Meg Ryan's character, a chronic insomniac, finally gets a full night's sleep, and is all happy and grateful and stuff before she gets squished by a truck? I'm pleased to report that today I feel similarly well-rested after a night of vivid and at times grotesque dreams. They were pretty spectacular.

A friend from work recently said people take the simple but fundamentally crucial act of sleep for granted until they see what several days -- or in my case, several weeks -- without it can do. Friend, word to that, and I hope you slept, too.

A busy day of editing, reveling and punching stuff awaits. I promise to be careful on the road.
