Up to bat

When I started reading this story, my initial reaction was, "Huh. That's kinda cool!" As one sadly lacking in the lash department, I can see the appeal of a procedure like this. It doesn't drastically alter one's appearance, and it seems safe enough. Not too bad, I thought.

Until I got to this part:

The surgery is not for everyone. The transplanted eyelashes grow just like head hair and need to be trimmed regularly and sometimes curled. Very curly head hair makes for eyelashes with too much kink.

Um, ew? Trimming one's eyelashes? What if you trimmed them too short? What if you cut them unevenly? What if you slipped with the scissors?!? Could you grow them really long and put them in ponytails? Or braids? To quote my darling and diminutive mother: gross, gross, gross.
