Vision quest
I enjoyed a rare Friday and Saturday off this weekend, and I must say it was fantastic. Oh how I envy you folks with normal schedules.
Among the weekend's activities was a trip to the eye doctor. I had a nagging suspicion my vision had worsened, and I'd run out of fresh contacts, so I figured I might as well go. Well, it turns out my left eye had deteriorated so much it had basically stopped even trying ("screw you, rest of body. I'm taking a nap."), which effectively crippled my depth perception to such an extent that I had none, according to the nice doctor. Perhaps that's why I'm so clumsy.
Furthermore, Madam Doctor informed me that staring at a computer screen all day is probably the reason my eye got so weak so rapidly (she says 29 is usually the age at which our vision is most stable. Pfft.), and she demanded that I promise to take a break every 15 minutes and stare at something across the room. This is a bit of a problem, as the accepted mode of behavior at work is to stare straight ahead, in silence, for the duration of the shift. However, I'd like to avoid being blind for as long as possible, so beginning tonight, I will stare off into space. Perhaps my doctor's orders will start a revolution!
Anyway, I can now see, so that's good, and my doctor gave me these new contacts that "work especially well for people with pointy eyes." Pointy eyes. I have pointy eyes. Who knew? Damned near everything else on my body is round, but my eyes? Pointy.
