I like even numbers
So, as most of you know, it's 2006. How did you spend New Year's Eve? I spent it working.
Although the last few months of 2005 were superb, I'm happy to leave the year behind and see where 2006 takes me.
I've read a lot of blog postings poo-pooing lists of New Year's resolutions as wastes of time, recipes for failure and/or crushing disappointment, etc. To each her own, but I like the idea of listing goals for the new year. When else am I going to do it, after all? So, among my resolutions:
- Drink more water.
- Invest no more time than is absolutely necessary on defective people.
- Nurture my genuine friendships.
- Make an appointment with an allergist (much to my horror, I have become both a Sneezer and a Sniffler, and that won't do).
- Try to change that which displeases me and accept, or at least not complain about, that which I cannot change.
- Exercise for an hour each day (I logged 55 minutes today, and roughly one-third of that was spent jogging. *pats self on back* *winces in pain*)
- Buy and use a pedometer.
- Vacuum the apartment once a week, even though my new place has Berber carpet and is therefore unvacuum-trackable.
- Devote more time to the piano.
- Look into getting a guitar and teaching myself to play it.
- Eat more fruit.
- Learn how to cook something other than eggs, brussels sprouts and stir-fry.
- Sing to young Simon more often.
- Read more new fiction.
- Get rid of the mother-fracking ants that have taken over my apartment.
- Learn how to file my nails properly and take care of my cuticles. And all that.
- Send Christmas cards.
- Invest my money.
What's your top resolution this year?
