Bloggers unite!
Everyone hates spam. Now, spam filters do a pretty good job of shielding my inbox from ads for Viagra, kitchen knives, Oprah's magazine and the like. But my blog? It's fair game, apparently. Rock and Roll Grammarian managed to escape the spamdar for several months, but in recent weeks the cretins who create these irritating ads have started spreading their vile blather in the comments section of my posts. I'll have you know, spammers, you most loathed and slimy of Internet salesmonsters, that you've struck the Grammarian's blog -- and other people's blogs -- one too many times.
Sure, I could take the high road with these turds. I could easily delete the wretched ads whilst cursing under my breath. But why would I do that when I can strike back with a spam campaign of my own? That's right, I propose we follow the links found in most spam messages to the offending sources and spam these bastards right back.
To aid the public in this counterassault, I've written a little something that you bloggers out there are more than welcome to use. Come on! It'll be fun!
