This should be interesting

Those of you who know me are aware of two truths about Rock and Roll Grammarian: I do not cook, and I do not keep plants alive. To date, I have not progressed beyond boiling and stir-frying foodstuffs, and until quite recently, plants have failed to thrive under my watch (my thumb has never been anywhere close to green -- it's been gray, ecru at best).

That's all about to change. I'm embarking on a new phase in my life: the cooking and planting phase. Erin, bless her heart, recently sent me some vegetarian cookbooks, which I'm bound and determined to master. And tonight, I, Rock and Roll Grammarian, purchased not only potting soil, but also three containers in which to place it.

I just re-potted two plants. One plant, given to me as a housewarming present by Jam Kat (who can both cook AND keep plants alive), has managed to cling to life for three years. Only recently have I paid proper attention to it, and in the months since it started receiving ample water and light it's outgrown its darling decorative container-thingy. The other plant, which was a housewarming gift for my current apartment, did surprisingly well for several months in less than ideal conditions. In fact, it didn't know what to do with itself when I started watering it regularly, and like a wino who's won the lottery, it's grown jaundiced in its fortune.

Obviously it was time to take action.

So, after making a staggering mess in my kitchen (let's hope I didn't manage to clog the sink) I lovingly transplanted these little guys into new homes. I'll keep you updated on their progress. In the meantime, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
